Clockworkmod “MD5 Mismatch” Fix
I received this error while trying to flash to a nandroid image that I used to recover earlier the same day. Thinking that perhaps one of the files became corrupt while transferring the files off the SD card and back on. All files checksummed with the correct MD5. Then I realized my problem, I was trying to flash with a non-rooted stock ROM.
The solution is to flash your phone with a rooting zip.
06.20.10A new look.
Well I updated to the latest 3.0 WP software and figured a new theme was in order. I don’t know if it’s a new feature of 3.0 but the new theme manager and installer is very seamless and a new piece of work.
Some magic in Lightroom 3.
After testing a lot of applications over the last month to quickly process the high number of photos I’ve been shooting on the hikes I’ve been going on I’ve settled on Lightroom. The recommendation from a friend should of halted my search, not to mention the fact Lightroom is geared toward photographic processing but I’m stubborn and have to find out certain things out for myself. As always thank you Vi, I hold your opinion in high regard and always have an open ear for you.
Today I went over all the photos I’ve shot. I’m at 4557 photos as of now, not including the few videos and LiveView which also actuates the shutter. My percentage of what I deem ‘decent photos’ is increasing from the initial 5% to 15% on this last hike; this is on hiking shoots.
The rating and tagging system that is in Lightroom I resisted at first. It’s the kind of thing that seems like too much work to be useful but being able to filter certain file with the Smart Collections is extremely handy when going over that many photos.
I’ve also gotten better at editing photos; I think, I could be wrong and if I am, please point it out. I won’t get butt hurt. I really should invest in a monitor calibrator at this point, in a few months I think I will. People are excited when I go on the hikes because of the shots I get. Which is ironic considering they are experiencing the real thing. Below is an example of edit. The post processed photo still looks washed out but a little better than it started. I would of been better off not shooting into the sun on this one. And honestly I don’t know why I spent the time editing it. But here it is.
Lightroom also exports the metadata from the camera into the JPEGs it exports which just turns on my geeky-ness. And lastly LR3 has a super effective export function to directly upload photos to a lot of services which eliminates the step for the user of creating the JPEGs and then uploading those JPEGs to that web service. Last I checked Facebook, SmugMug, Meetup.com, Adorama, ShutterFly, SnapFish, Photobox, Flickr, Photocart, KodakGallery, ImageArchiver, MobileMe, WalMart PhotoCenter, Costco PhotoCenter, CVS PhotoCenter, Photobucket, Gallery 1 and 2, and Google’s Picasa have plug-ins for at least LR2 and lots are being ported to LR3. The one for SmugMug is hands down the most developed of the ones I’ve used and it shows. That in itself makes has made me considered paying for SmugMug service.
No 3G in Santa Fe, NM.
That’s right there is no 3G coverage from any carrier in Santa Fe New Mexico. WTH seriously? And from what I saw the only city that does have 3G in New Mexico is Albuquerque (still spell check that one most of the time).
Update: Well it turns out Santa Fe does have 3G. The maps are out of date or I can’t read the maps due to the color.
MSi Wind Netbooks
Recently I purchased two MSi Winds. I purchased one on eBay for my brother as a birthday present. It came pre-installed with OSX which was nice because I didn’t receive it from the seller until the day of my brother’s birthday. In my frantic search to get one in my hand before it was too late I found a guy selling one for $50 because he interrupted a BIOS flash and corrupted the BIOS. Which is basically the piece of code that boots everything else. Without a working BIOS you’ll have a nice paper weight that can’t be recovered via software. The only way to repair a bad BIOS flash is to soldering on another BIOS chip.
I was lucky enough to find that the broken MSi Wind I bought was still covered under warranty. A thirty minute phone call, 10 days, and $64 later I have a perfectly working MSi Wind. Now I just need to install the OSes (OSX, Windows, and Linux. That way all my bases are covered.). I should also decide on what OS flavors as well.
Drafting
And not the kind done in cars to reduce drag. I have 8 drafted post that I am still editing or still typing on. Updates soon.
Getting back into public blogging.
Today I installed WPtouch iPhone Theme which is suppose to automatically detect when a mobile phone navigates to this site and change over the theme to a smartphone friendly one. It’s actually suppose to mimic iPhone applications interface. I’ll have to tinker around with it, initially it seems really slow to load (using a N1 on a 10Mbit WiFi connection).
