A change soon in housing.

Well I have a little more than 14 days to move out. I’ve more or less cleaned out my closet (bunch of junk I’m not willing to let go) but my room still needs to be packed.

I found a roommate/home owner in E Fort Worth who was/is renting out a large room (14" x 12"), two closets (4" x 2" each), exclusive access to a bathroom, and a garage spot for $450 all bills paid (Electric, water, wireless internet, and basic cable). Plus he is pretty cool, positive outlook on life, and is gay; but he is a hick. Pretty attractive given his age; but that itself is a problem for me.

This will be a huge improvement from my current predicament which has seemed to gotten worse because the internet connection has diminished in quality/speed; management is changing quarterly; and they recently changed the gate access to an exclusive key fob which sucks when you are riding a motorcycle and have to kill your motorcycle in order to get in. Oh well this chapter will be over in 14 days.

Oh yea I have a guy coming over to fix the door I kicked down about 10 months ago (damn it was still cold then too).

18 hour ride.

On Friday night I got the bike back from its maintenance cycle (think female period). I had two punctures in the rear tire which caused a fast leak. I replaced the tire with a new one from TiresUnlimited.com; horrible ordering and tracking system but dirt cheap.

So after I fixed the bike I decided to go out for a short ride. I was cruising around and met Siam on a GSXR600. He told me about his crew he runs with on Saturdays and offered for me to join him. I of course take him up on his offer.

So I met back up with him on Saturday after checking out a couple of roommate situations. It was 2pm when I joined them. Interesting bunch, we have a motorcycle version of Eric, the drummer from Blink 182 (think tattoos and serial sexual experiences), Bubba gump and his ‘old lady’, a rich kid with a Hayabusa (the slowest rider), a 3 week old squid, an old fat man on a R1, a hardcore street rider (seriously his face looks like he has been wearing a helmet his whole life), and a Chinese man.

We road all over the place but the highlight of it was at about 11pm when we all headed over to this 3 mile strip of road where we had a brush with a LEO in a Charger. I don’t have the energy right now to write a complete story but needless to say it was interesting.

That’s it for now.

A clear case of intoxication causing an accident on a motorcycle.

The other day I calculated that I can ride an extra 1097 miles monthly beyond my roughly ~700 miles per month for work.

So trying to waste that mileage away I was out on a random ride with no destination and no route planned and ran into a guy on a yellow 08 Honda CBR1000RR. After chasing him for 3 miles we both got stopped side by side by a stop light. He asked if I was going anywhere and I said "Not particularly." so he offered to follow him to his house where him and a few friends were about to go out and ride.

So I followed. As we are pulling into his driveway his neighbors are rolling their bikes out. Both of their bikes are beat to shit; obviously been dropped and riced out (led underlights and chrome).

1000RR (didn’t catch his name) gets off, pull off his helmet, introduces himself, his neighbors, then asks if anyone wants a beer. I decline and the other two guys claim they already have one. I chuckle in my head as I realize what I have gotten into; drunk squids.

Mika (one of the guys) starts talking about how he just bought a bike today and yada yada yada. I’m looking at it and thinking "You paid $6k for this in its current condition?" 30 minutes goes by and they are finally ready for a ride; you know after knocking back no less than 2 beers each.

I let them all lead as I don’t want to be hit. We are about a mile away from where we started and Eric locks up his rear tire on a loose asphalt road. I think no big deal he just wants to stop. I watch to try to figure out why but decide not to stop and pass him, then start watching him in the side mirror as he bites it before coming to a stop. I think "WTH" and turn back after trying to signal Mika who is in front of me but he keeps going because he didn’t hear me.

Yellow 1000RR and I go back and help Eric pick up his bike and brush off. He screwed up the plastics on the right side and torn his jeans. He had a limp afterward. He was pissed and decided to head back. We had to go look for Mika as he was still off riding 8 minutes later. They all decided to go back and not ride.

Other news, I got a nail in the rear tire and a flat the next morning. I ordered a replacement Michelin Pilot Power totalling $164.39 before mounting it. I already have the rear tire off and await UPS delivering it on Thursday.
