An update.
I stopped working at the antique shop. The owner thought that paying me $3.47 an hour would be reasonable. Screw that.
I’m now working at a junk yard in Azle, or at least within a few miles of Azle. I get free parts from any of the cars as long as I say "I plan to sell this" as I walk out the door with it.
I’m currently installing dual Altima fans on the 240. I’ll probably make a write-up on how to; not that it is hard but most people don’t realize that they can maintain stock behavior. I also got a free set of S14 seats. I’m so anxious to get the car running so I can test the difference in feel. I also found out despite the KA racking up almost 200,000 miles its cooling system is still clean. No calcium deposits or anything of that nature. I found out the power steering belt that I bought at Courtesy Nissan was the wrong one. It turns out they screwed up practically every item that I ordered 6 months back. Although I really should of installed the belts sooner. Today I had an interview with a cellphone wholesaler in Dallas. Or should I say Shane did, I accompanied him and then ended up getting interviewed myself. It looks as if our business might actually be revived.
Also I am organizing another Nissan Meet to take place on Thursday April 5, 2007 in Arlington, TX.(Oh yea, I had two post saved as drafts for a while. They’ve finally been posted. And I forgot to mention I own a Valentine 1 now; how did I live without one.)
Purely hypothetical situation.
So Friday night, I went out to Arlington to meet up with Vi, Linda, Robert, Lawrence, Stacey, Paul, and Jay. We had dinner after departing from Starbucks. I got home somewhere around 1am, feel asleep immediately and didn’t wake up until Saturday at 8pm. Needless to say it was a good nap.
On to the hypothetical situation. Yet another felony tacked onto the wall of felonies committed.
So Saturday when I woke up at 7pm I decided to wake up with going out for a drive in the 240SX. I usually go out to Dallas to cruise I35E as it is a blast at 90MPH with casual drivers going about the same speed but today I found myself doing a speed run through 287 to I20. Soon I found myself in Arlington and had just last week met up with a bunch of new 240 friends. One of which I got the number from after hanging out at his apartment. I sent him a text message asking if he was busy and if he minded if I dropped by. He was in the middle of a movie but didn’t mind company. (By the way both of his other two room mates either drive 240s or have boyfriends that do.) The movie was "Stranger than fiction" and I had a entertaining thought while watching it: perhaps relationships like life is great in the beginning stage like childhood and gradually progresses to a desk job. This has been true so far in my past relationships. Anyways back to the story.
After the movie we debated for about 30 minutes how profound the movie was; about who the story was really about. We settled and the subject was changed to 240s. I had told Erick that I had just installed the Z32 brakes and wheels to my 240 and offered the keys to him for a test drive. Of course he accepted (partially because he hasn’t toyed with a hatchback and partially because he hasn’t felt a full Z32 brake kit on a 240 and who can’t resist tearing up someone else’s car.) Erick drove it to a winding part of Arlington’s hilly roads. The particular part (This is the part where I realize that I have 10 minute before I have to be leaving for work and want to post it now) of the road Ss not only does it Ss but it merges into another road via a stop light. He drive through the S curve and is getting a feel for the suspension and brakes. Does a U-turn and looks over at me and says: "I have a question…do you mind if I drift this?" For some reason him playing Initial D at Putt-Putt last week instilled a lot of trust in his driving ability for me. "Of course, go ahead. Just realize the rear tires are bald and there isn’t an e-brake." I warned. We start prepping for the turn, he is going down this street at about 60mph, the Energy Suspension bushing are holding up well. We get to the turn and he keep going straight until the last moment, then initializes the traction loss by throwing the steering wheel to the right hard and then counter-steering the over steer he just produced, holds it for a sec while the weight sensors are changing the lights and when it turns green transfers the weight and continues the drift sliding the other way. It was impressive.
We returned back to his apartment and hung out for a while. We received a call from his roommate (who I will refer to ask Max). Max just got off of work from a local police department and wanted to go out to eat. Max also invites another friend Jose to come along. We all cruise to Whataburger in a pack down Cooper. One of our friends has an SRed 240 and gets challenged. So of course he accepts. Mean while we have so far pasted about 6 cops. But given the opportunity, a Mustang always needs to be put in its spot. We had enough time to order and start eating before he returned and we were sure a cop had pulled him over. He beat the 280Z and Mustang that were messin’ around without attracting attention from the Arlington PD. After that we cruised back to the apartment and while everyone was walking in I asked Max and Jose if they wanted to go see the Z32 in action. They agree of course.
They get in the car and I decided I’ll show them the brakes on I-30 going east. We take the Fielder entrance ramp and I kick it up to 90MPH. I hold it at 90 until after we pass Cooper and verify there aren’t any cops on that entrance ramp. I didn’t see any so I kicked it up to 120 and held it there. The Collin’s exit was approaching so I wait until the last moment and nail the brakes. We slow down from 120 to 60 in wide corner. I hold it at 55 through the corner hoping the rear tires won’t break traction due to their baldness. We go over I-30 and after that short bend in the road I nail the brakes again to pull a uturn to get back on I-30 going west this time. I’m still accelerating when I see a stringray come around the same bend followed by 3 cop cars with there lights on. It doesn’t quite dawn on me that they are coming for me. But that was before Max, blurts out "Run, run, you can make it." I was still accelerating but what was just said wasn’t sitting right. Did a off duty officer just tell me to run. Jose backs him up and we hauled ass on I-30 hitting 100+mph again. They kept checking the rear for the lights but we didn’t see them until after we got into the exit lane for Cooper. We found the first available residential area and slowly (I mean did the speed limit) back to the apartment the back way./hypothetically speaking.
